Marketing
These marketing dissertation examples are student-contributed and explore how brands win attention, shape preference, and drive behaviour in crowded markets. Many projects connect theory to practice by testing what influences awareness, trust, conversion, and loyalty – often in specific sectors such as retail, FMCG, hospitality, finance, sport, or tech.
Common directions include consumer behaviour (decision heuristics, perceived risk, impulse buying, brand attachment, word of mouth) and brand strategy (positioning, brand equity, storytelling, authenticity, employer branding). A large set of topics sits in digital marketing: SEO and content performance, paid social, influencer marketing, community building, email funnels, and how algorithms affect reach and engagement. Students often focus on social media marketing metrics – engagement quality, parasocial relationships, sentiment, and the trade-offs between growth, credibility, and fatigue. Another frequent theme is pricing and promotion, including discount framing, subscriptions, freemium models, bundling, and loyalty schemes.
Contemporary marketing dissertations increasingly cover data and privacy (tracking limits, consent, personalisation), AI in marketing (recommendation systems, generative content, bias), and ethics and sustainability (green claims, purpose-led branding, consumer scepticism, and reputational risk). Many projects also examine B2B marketing, exploring relationship marketing, account-based strategies, trust in professional services, and how procurement shapes buying decisions. Methodologically, students commonly use surveys and experiments, interviews and focus groups, campaign audits, web and social analytics, or comparative case studies across competitors.
Strong marketing questions usually narrow to one audience segment, one channel, and a measurable outcome.
