Radio Frequency Based Identification System for Unmanned Vehicles
The main purpose of this project is interfacing of vehicles with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags for transport systems, military operations and for navigation systems.
These engineering dissertation examples are student-contributed and cover a wide range of modern engineering problems, from designing and testing components to improving systems, safety, and performance in real environments. Because “engineering” is broad, dissertations in this area usually succeed when they define a specific application (a product, process, structure, or system), a performance goal, and a clear way to evaluate results.
Common directions include design and optimisation (materials selection, modelling, prototyping, validation), reliability and failure analysis, safety engineering, and quality and continuous improvement. Many projects focus on engineering under constraints: cost, manufacturability, maintenance, standards and compliance, and the trade-offs between efficiency, robustness, and usability. Contemporary dissertations often sit close to industry challenges such as decarbonisation (energy efficiency, electrification, low-carbon materials), automation and control, sensor systems and monitoring, and operational resilience when supply chains or parts availability are unstable. Depending on the specialism, topics can include mechanical systems, electronics, civil/infrastructure, manufacturing processes, or software-enabled engineering, with methods ranging from simulation and lab testing to field measurement and case studies.
These examples can help you choose a workable engineering problem and see how students justify assumptions, test performance, and communicate results clearly.

A prototype design to provide a feasible text input option for touch devices that is not based on the poor design of the QWERTY keyboard.
The aim of the study is to create a mathematical model of wind turbine tower floating on sea and conduct modal analysis specifically for spar buoy foundation.
A research proposal on the combat aircraft nozzle and how travelling from the converging side of the nozzle to the diverging side of the nozzle effects performance factors.
Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are the most efficient devices yet invented for conversion of chemical fuels directly into electrical power. They consist of a solid dense ceramic electrolyte placed between two porous electrodes.
This thesis is aimed to develop an accurate computer based model to calculate EV energy consumption to be used for range estimation.
Is the current route to civil engineering stifling creativity in engineering students? There is potential for D&T to become a useful subject for students wishing to pursue engineering.
