These family dissertation examples are student-contributed and reflect the kinds of questions students ask about how families live, adapt, and cope when circumstances change. In this topic area, “family” usually means looking at relationships and care in context — money pressures, housing, health, work, culture, and the services and laws that families encounter.

Many dissertations focus on parenting and support (what helps families early, what gets in the way, and what “effective” support looks like to parents), care and responsibility (young carers, adult caring, disability, ageing, and how care is shared or falls unevenly), and family change (separation, co-parenting, blended families, kinship care).
