Students Who Study In Great Britain And Businessmen Who Arrive To London For ...

Students who study in Great Britain and businessmen who arrive to London for business do not intend to cancel their trips because of the terrorist attack.

Since July 2005 the British entertainment industry has increased the number of exhibitions and entertainment events, while airways of Britain have introduced new flights to attract more visitors. However, even these measures are not enough to return the British tourist industry into its previous position; actually, after the terrorist acts tourists continue to arrive to Britain, but their trips are shorter and their expenses are reduced. In view of the introduction of advanced security measures, some tourists do not easily perceive these measures, being used to normal travelling conditions (Levantis & Gani, 2000). The improved security will certainly be inconvenient to businessmen, students and other tourists, especially from such countries as Japan, China and the United States that are regarded as very demanding. The tourists who arrive to London and visit theatres, museums or cinemas are exposed to constant surveillance. No wonder, the intense police control in the capital of England slows down the process of the tourism renewal.
6 Findings and discussions
According to the presented data and data analysis, 2005 Bombings in London will have some impact on British tourism, at least in the following two years, although this impact will not be as severe as, for instance, the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 in the USA. The attacks in London have already influenced such tourist industries as airlines and hotels, but have also affected secondary tourist industries such as restaurants, theatres, cinemas, car rentals, transportation, merchandising, shops and cruises. As the British tourist industry is one of the major industries of the country, it provides jobs to millions of English people and other UK residents (WTTC, 2000), but the terrorist attack of July 7 has resulted in the slight decrease of job opportunities in the tourist industry. Besides, the attack has profoundly undermined both the international and domestic tourist industries that experience the decline in tax revenues and foreign exchange earnings, amounting to 600 million pounds. The British tourist industry incites economic investments and consumer spending, but the recent terrorist acts changed the usual rates of investing activity and taxation in London, decreasing consumer spending up to 15-20%.

British tourism provides indirect and direct tax receipts that evolve from the services of various tourist industries. As tourism is competitive business, the tourist industry of a certain country may be considerably declined as a result of terrorism, while the tourist industries of other countries will benefit.
