Sanders (1997).
It is further interesting to note that the JIT application in an organization is mainly aimed at the streamlining of the procurement of the supply chain whilst encouraging the organization to implement re-engineering strategies surrounding the JIT application in the manufacturing process as argued by Raymond L. Louis (1997). The control of the supply chain by the JIT application is predominantly through enabling the organization to procure the raw materials based upon the real-time progress of the sales of a given product line as argued by Raymond Louis (1997). This makes it clear that the effective use of the aforementioned method will demand the organization to implement three major factors of JIT effectively as discussed below
2.2.1: Planning Planning is argued as the primary element in the overall implementation of JIT to enable LEAN strategy in an organization as argued by Lisa M. Elram et al (2004). This makes it clear that the supply chain integration that is achieved through JIT can be accomplished and nurtured only through effectively planning the overall manufacturing process as well as capturing the market position and progress of sales by quantity of the product being manufactured by the organization. Gerry Johnson and Kevan Scholes (2003) argue that the planning is a strategic element for an organization's effectiveness in effectively deploying the re-engineering strategies within an organization. This makes it clear that the planning is essential for JIT implementation not only for the efficient control of the supply chain management but also for the efficient control of the overall management process within the organization to achieve LEAN strategy. Another interesting element with the planning and the JIT implementation is the need for an organization to effective utilise its resources both men and materials to ensure that the organization's planning not only accommodates for the external market forces but also to the availability of the internal resources to address a change in the demand effectively.
2.2.2: Supply and Demand Information The supply and demand information is one of the key elements that influence the overall procurement, storage and manufacture of the products in a production environment. The JIT is considered as the operational element of the LEAN manufacturing strategy where the organization can integrate its different segments of business and layers of management to the manufacturing process as argued by C. M. Harland (1996). This is also evident from the arguments of Lisa M.
