The Fact That Through Identifying The Point Where A Specific Raw Material ...

The fact that through identifying the point where a specific raw material will be necessary for the production of a product involving many parts provides the ability to prioritise the delivery of the goods to serve the manufacturing process. Thus through ensuring the delivery of the raw materials for performing a specific stage of the manufacture process just in time to move the shipment straight into the production environment will increase the ability to mobilise the manufacturing process as well as save storage space thus saving costs for the organization. Hence it is clear that the major element in the success of the JIT approach to the manufacturing process in a workshop is the effective planning to identify the key stages within the process and ensure that the raw materials are delivery is scheduled according to the needs in a given stage of the manufacturing process.
The application of the JIT method of production in an organization thus requires the following
Planning A detailed plan on the key stages of the manufacturing process and the priorities of the list of materials is essential for the un-interrupted manufacturing process in a workshop. In the western style free markets where the demand for products are fluctuating thus dedicating machinery and resources for the mass production on a long-term basis is not a strategic approach, E. Houghton and V. Portougal (1997) say that the JIT concept of the parts processing within the stages of the production is a successful approach to eliminate losses due to mass production and failure to sell in the market.
Supply and demand information The market demand for the finished product must be up-to-date in an organization in order to enable the JIT strategy. This is not only because of the fact that the manufacturing process is dependant upon the selling ability of the organization but also due to the fact that the change in demand for a product range can be implemented in the production process through staging the procurement of the raw materials. Hence modification within the manufacturing process can be accomplished to increase the profit margin for the organization as well as ensure timely delivery to the customers.
Supplier Relationship The supplier information and the ability of the supplier to promptly deliver the raw material is a key element in implementing the JIT strategy as argued by Caron H. St. John and Kirk C. Heriot (1993). This makes it clear that the effectiveness in the supplier relationship and the availability of the raw material is a critical element in the effective deployment of the JIT methodology in the manufacturing process. An organization should thus ensure that that it has a suite of suppliers who can turn around the delivery of the raw material just in time to ensure the un-interrupted manufacturing process in the workshop.
