This is an important consideration, as it will affect people throughout the world, and will certainly have an impact on the UK. Once review and analysis of the data is complete, conclusions will be drawn.
Immigrants and Illegal Immigrants:
There is widespread concern about immigration effects on any developed country, like the US and the UK. However, there is a difference. In the US, there is concern because the authorities in the US are dealing with illegal immigrants who are employed by law breaking employers. These employers hire illegal immigrants for lower wages, and this is precisely robs the locals of jobs, as employers prefer to hire illegal immigrants for lower wages as opposed to hiring citizens whom they have to pay more.
In the UK, it is thought that immigrant workers would have a similar impact. However, there is a difference because immigrant workers in the UK are mostly legal, and cannot be given employment unless they are there for some valid reason. Even if they are overseas students in the UK, people will have a chance to work a limited number of hours (Card, F302F321).
In the European Union, there are some member countries that are not ready to open their doors to immigrants from newer member countries. However, the UK has always had its doors open, and continues to take in immigrant workers that come its way.
The concern that most people have regarding the wages issue is that there will be immigrants available for lower wages in the UK. Some argue that this will not really impact the amount that locals are paid. However, there is no way or measuring or predicting this. Also, it is worth mentioning that some argue about the wages that immigrants eventually earn. Skilled immigrants are likely to have a lower wage when they start working, but end up with 30% more wages than locals over a long period. This brings one to the argument about skilled labour in the UK, which is thought to be a point of great interest. It is known that developed countries have always shown how keen they are to hire skilled labour. This is because countries stand to benefit considerably from their availability. For example, France makes it a point to attract skilled labour, regardless of its control on immigrant workers. However, it is a very different situation with the UK that allows immigrant workers of all kinds (Card, F302F321).

According to a report of a study in the Guardian Newspaper, the economy in the UK has benefited from immigrant worker presence. This report by the accountancy firm ‘PricewaterhouseCoopers' has been the center of much debate over immigrant workers impacting the UK labor market. With its research, the company ‘PricewaterhouseCoopers', determined that immigrant worker presence pushed up growth higher than its long term trend.
