Seasonal Work Suits Them Just Fine, And So Is The Presence Of Immigrant ...

Seasonal work suits them just fine, and so is the presence of immigrant unskilled workers suit employers just fine (Card, 2001, 2363).
The Need for Both, Skilled and Unskilled Labour in the UK:
While there is a requirement for both, skilled and unskilled labour, in the UK, many argue about the availability of jobs. However, the ground reality is that there are jobs in the UK available to unskilled workers. The government has pointed out that there are jobs available regardless of the number of immigrants that have entered the UK. However, the fact that wages may drop is discouraging to indigenous workers in the UK. It also discourages people from getting back to work as mentioned earlier (Card, 2001, 2363).
Apart from unskilled work that deals with the masses, skilled work is important to consider as well. In spite of the high number of immigrant workers coming to the UK, there is still a shortage existing. This is a positive sign because it still leaves room for indigenous workers in the UK. This is true all over the UK, including London that has a high proportion of immigrant workers (Winter-Ebmer and Zweimuller, 1999, 328339).
When comparing skilled with unskilled vacancies, the difference that one is struck by is that wages of unskilled labor is reduced. This is largely the concern of most people. Given that employers particularly are pleased with hiring immigrants, it is worrying for indigenous workers. Will there be some solution to this concern within the near future is a matter of how the government chooses to deal with the issue. For the time being, there is no sign of anything being done to change the shift that has been taking place in terms of wages being lowered along with interest rates being lowered, while growth is predicted to increase. Since the government seems to be more concerned with growth, immigrant workers will continuously be allowed in the UK unrestricted.
One notion that people share in this regard is that while many indigenous workers do not want to get back to work, moreover since wages are lowered, the government needs people keen to work for the economy to thrive. Quite obviously, with immigrant workers being more than keen to work, there is little reason for the UK to ban immigrant workers (Flowers, 2005, 108111).
It is further deemed logical to assert that immigrant workers are beneficial for the economy because they help companies expand their efforts. If immigrants are restricted from coming to the UK and working, many companies would suffer great losses, and in turn, so would the UK economy. Given this larger objective, the UK government is unlikely to restrict immigrant workers working in the UK. In fact, with more immigrant workers interested in working for UK companies means that the UK will still again economically regardless of UK indigenous workers not wanting to work again (Flowers, 2005, 108111).
