3.1Women in construction by occupation
A report by the Equal Opportunities Commission used by Hill McGlynn in their 2005 paper on women in construction found that while women constitute 49% of the total UK workforce they only represent 1% of all construction jobs.22 (http://www.hillmcglynn.com). The report also found that out of all areas where there were major skills shortages the skilled construction occupations contributed 6% - while having a workforce that was 99% male. In management too women were found to be under represented - making up only 4% of all construction management jobs.
