The methodology included the gathering of statistical as well as research studies into the various fields of information on older workers, attitudes, views, working abilities, psychological factors, life cycles and allied fields to gain a broader, yet focused base of information from which to approach and understand the problems and issues associated with this area. There were potential limitations to this inquiry in that the field of knowledge is so vast that potentially pertinent and or relevant information might have been either overlooked and or missed as a result of time constraints in reviewing available sources. As this was a known factor at the beginning of the research phase, considerable care as well as time allocation was given to conduct a broad a research scan and review of information as possible to obtain a more balanced view as a result of the utilization of a wide range of sources.

There are several theories relating to aging, which is an extremely complex as well as multi-faceted series of problems, with the following representing the main two categories (Schulz-Aellen, 1997, pp.
