A Further Technological Change Which May Impact On The Project Would Be The ...

A further technological change which may impact on the project would be the implementation of new systems to track and monitor customer and demand data better. The project, and the urgency associated with it, has come about because the company has been unaware of the decline in the refrigerator and freezer markets, and the growth in dishwashers and microwaves. As such, the company has been unable to plan a strategy to deal with these challenges and opportunities before they arose. However, if the company had systems in place for gathering and analysing market data, they could have seen these trends forming and reacted to them quicker. Hence whilst implementing such a system now would not have as great an impact on the current project, it would help ‘Changing Tides' to react to any further changes in the market place, and would also help validate the case for the project on an ongoing basis. The systems would also help the company react to and deal with any future changes or challenges in the marketplace, before they became critical.

In summary, technological change at Telnex could impact the project in a variety of ways, depending upon the nature of the change and how it is handled. Indeed, some of the major technological changes; in the market place, the production systems and the support systems, could be either beneficial or harmful to the company, depending on how it reacts to them and manages their impacts. It is important for the company to realise that these changes can occur at any time, and will need to be assessed and monitored continually in order to be successfully managed. It is also important for all stakeholders to realise that how they personally react to the technological changes is also important and they should thus be aware of any changes and how their management of them will influence the company's productivity.
